Our first kite flying experience

I bought a kite a few months ago and have been waiting
so patiently for a windy day that Matt has off work.
Today was that day!

This kite was made out of recycled oreo cookie
wrappers so of course Maddison liked it.
Unfortunately oreo cookie wrappers don't make
a very good kite and Matt could barely keep it in the air.

He got one good fly out of it, but it was too short
for Maddison to be able to hold it.

So we went to the store and bought 2 new ones
because we really wanted to give Maddie a chance to fly one.

She helped daddy with his Toy Story kite...
And then I got her Little Mermaid kite out for her.
She loved it and surprisingly the kite was
pretty self-sufficient and Maddie just had to hold on.

It was so cute to watch her stand there with the kite!

Then when everything was going so well Matt's kite
started flying crazy and crossed strings with Maddison's.
It pulled Maddison's kite out of her hands and sent it
flying into a tree. I was holding onto Matt's kite while
he went to get hers and the wind pulled his out of my hands!
His flew in a tree, got stuck and kept flying! LOL

So if you happen to drive by Riverview park and
see a kite flying itself, it was ours. LOL
You can barely see it in this pic...

  1. Awe! How sad! But I'm sure she had so much fun flying the kite before it got away from her. My kids had a blast with kites this summer. I'm going to find good quality kites for them sometime this next year before summer hits. :)
